Daegu 2026, Uniting the World Through Passion and Friendship Dear Masters Athletics Family
On behalf of World Masters Athletics Council, it is my great pleasure and distinct honor to welcome you to the 2026 World Masters Athletics Stadia Championships in Daegu, Korea.

We are thrilled to be returning to Daegu, a city that has already demonstrated its passion for athletics and its outstanding ability to host world-class sporting events. Many of you will remember the wonderful 2017 World Masters Athletics Indoor Championships, and I know that Daegu will once again provide an exceptional experience for everyone involved. This time, as before, Daegu offers an outstanding setting for these Championships. Athletes will compete in some of the world's finest athletics facilities, including the iconic Daegu Stadium, which proudly hosted the 2011 IAAF World Championships in Athletics and stands as a symbol of Korea’s proud sporting tradition. These venues will provide an inspiring stage for performances, friendships, and memories that will last well beyond the final event.

We are equally excited for athletes, officials, families, and supporters to experience the warmth of Korean hospitality and the richness of Korean culture. From its traditions and cuisine to its vibrant city life and welcoming people, Daegu will offer every participant an opportunity to enjoy not only outstanding competition, but also meaningful cultural exchange and friendship.

Masters athletics is built on passion, perseverance, respect, and camaraderie. Each championship brings together athletes from around the world who inspire us through their dedication to active, healthy competition at every age and level of ability. In Daegu, we will once again celebrate the joy of our sport and the global friendships that make WMA championships so special.

I extend my sincere thanks to Daegu Metropolitan City, the Local Organizing Committee, the Korean Association of Athletics Federations (KAAF), our officials, volunteers, partners, and all who are working so diligently to prepare for this important event. Your commitment will help ensure a memorable and successful championship for every athlete and guest.

To all our athletes, I wish you success in your preparations and joy in your participation. We look forward to welcoming you to Daegu for a championship filled with excellence, friendship, culture, and celebration.
