What is the Visa Exemption System?
- • In principle, a foreigner who plans to enter the Republic of Korea has to possess a valid visa (entry permission).
- • To obtain a valid visa, it is required to visit the embassy or consulate of the destination country, submit the compulsory documents, and pay the visa processing fee. You may have to attend an interview in some cases.
- • The visa exemption system is designed to eliminate these inconveniences, allowing entry to a country without a visa through agreements between countries or unilateral or reciprocal measures.
- • If foreign nationals wishing to enter the Republic of Korea without a visa must undergo the K-ETA(Korea Electronic Travel Authorization) review and obtain travel authorization.
