The Daegu World Masters Athletics Championships Organizing Committee (Daegu WMAC) participated in the All Japan Masters Athletics Championships from the 20th to the 24th, establishing a network with Japanese track officials, and conducting promotional activities for participants.
The All-Japan Masters Athletics Championships will be hosted by the Japan Masters Athletics Federations (JMA). The championships, which took place in Kyoto, took place from July 21 to 23. More than 11,000 Japanese Masters athletes (including athletes, judges, executives and partners) participated in the championships.
The organizing committee dispatched four people, including the head of the external cooperation department, and two employees of the Daegu Sports Council to benchmark the operation of the competition in advanced track and field countries, and toured the competition facilities.
On the second day of the competition, through a meeting with JMA President Seiji Nakajima, he promised to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the organizing committee and JMA, and to move forward together for the success of the 2026 Daegu Games based on the large participation of the Japanese team.
At the same time, the organizing committee focused on expanding its human network with Japanese track and field officials through interviews with Michio Ando, vice chairman of the Kitakyushu Athletics Federation, and Yuji Miyasako, director of the Fukuoka Masters Athletics Federation.
It also actively promoted the 2026 Daegu Games to athletes and officials who participated in the competition.
Jin Ki-hoon, secretary-general of the organizing committee, said, "For the success of the tournament, it is essential for the active participation of the Japanese team, which has a solid track and field base at the Masters," adding, "We will also actively target Asian countries such as India and China, which are expected to participate in the future."
