The Daegu LOC of WMAC 2026 draws attention with overseas promotional drive to attract participation.

To boost international attendance, the LOC recently dispatched a delegation to the 2026 European Maters Athletics Championships Indoor held in Torun, Poland. The Maters Athletics Championships is a festival for everyday sports enthusiasts.

The location where the LOC set up a promotional booth was Europe's largest Masters Athletics Championships. Hosted by the European Masters Athletics Federation (EMA), the Championships is currently underway from March 26 to April 2 with approximately 3,500 participants. The LOC delegation communicated with the EMA and athletics officials from various countries to inspect the stadium facilities and the Championships' operational system. They also received registration of interest to participate in the WMAC Daegu 2026 on-site.

The WMAC Daegu 2026 will be held from August 22 to September 3 in Daegu stadium, Gyeongsan Civic stadium, etc. The Championships is open to anyone aged 35 or older from around the world. Registration is available until June 23 via the official website.

Chin Ki Hoon, Secretary General of the LOC, stated, "Europe is a region where we can find a broad base of masters athletics and a large scale of participation," adding, "We will do our best to ensure that more European athletes can run on the Daegu track."
