Secretary General Kihoon CHIN Vows to Deliver an Inspiring WMAC 2026
World Masters Athletics Championships Daegu 2026 (“WMAC 2026”) is an event we build together
Secretary General Kihoon CHIN said, “We need the support and attention of citizens for WMAC 2026 to be successful,” highlighting the importance of their involvement.
Local sponsors "Guyoung Tech, Cretec, Ajin Industrial, etc." are enhancing private-sector cooperation for WMAC 2026, and the Championships will be carried out together with approximately 800 local volunteers, university student ambassadors, global ambassadors, interpreters, and operational personnel.
Secretary General Kihoon CHIN said, “WMAC 2026 is a festival where participants and the host city come together, and all aspects of the infrastructure, including accommodation, transportation, culture, and services, will be prepared to the highest standards to ensure that every participant feels inspired in Daegu City.
Secretary General CHIN concluded by saying:
“The vision of the Championships is to establish a World Athletics City that unites people from across the world, enhancing both national and city branding and strengthening awareness by delivering a world-class Championships as a true World Athletics City.” He further highlighted that the Championships “will deliver messages of challenge and health to all participants in an aging society, extending far beyond the simple meaning of competition.” He added that “our commitment will continue through the last day, promoting recreational athletics, extending healthy life expectancy, and elevating the value of the city brand, so that WMAC 2026 truly resonates with everyone.”
